With IBC 2025 now behind us, we’re reflecting on the biggest media and entertainment trade show and our key takeaways from the event.
This year, IBC welcomed over 43,000 visitors, including the biggest names in the global media, entertainment, and technology community. As always, the FMTS team was there to showcase the latest in anti-piracy solutions and to catch up with customers, partners, and new connections.
At IBC, we unveiled our new investigation services - helping clients understand the true impact of piracy on their services, make informed strategy decisions and work with law enforcement to combat illegal networks. Comprising personnel from law enforcement and cybersecurity backgrounds, this service turns intelligence into decisive action.
We were also proud to be recognised at the CSI Awards for advances in smarter monitoring. Our enhanced monitoring services, powered by an adaptive AI RAG model, learn and adjust to ever-evolving pirate tactics. Unlike static monitoring solutions, our model automatically builds target templates, identifies subtle changes, and dynamically adjusts scanning parameters for more precise detection. This AI-based approach identifies threats 70% faster, with our piracy landscape database, the Piracy Source Register, now covering 50% more targets - giving customers unmatched speed, accuracy and insight.
As always, the CSI Awards brought their usual mix of good humour and great atmosphere — a fun yet professional gathering we look forward to each year. As well as these, we were also proud to have our achievements in carbon neutrality recognised as one of the award finalists at the Corporate Star Awards. You can learn more about our Net Zero journey here. On Sunday, FMTS hosted a press brunch followed by a panel titled, "Piracy – undermining sports, threatening businesses, funding crime." The panel was moderated by Miruna Herovanu, CEO of The Audiovisual Anti-Piracy Alliance (AAPA). Guests featured Lee Kent from the global broadcaster beIN Media Group, Mark Lichtenhein, CEO at Sports Rights Owners Coalition (SROC), a senior representative of Interpol’s IP crime and digital piracy unit, and our very own Dave Gilmore, VP of Intelligence at FMTS.
The panellists shared how a handful of organisations and data centres drive most piracy, exploiting legal loopholes and weak enforcement, reiterating that piracy is no small-scale problem, but instead it is organised crime, ranking just behind drug and human trafficking in revenues. With millions of illegal streams detected—often monetised through subscriptions, gambling, or even other pirates—we also discussed solutions, including collaboration and faster takedowns, both of which are critical to protecting live sports. Overall, it was another fantastic year at IBC, despite the changeable weather! Thank you to everyone who visited our stand. It was great to catch up with peers and customers, and to make new friends and partnerships. We look forward to showcasing a year's worth of amazing developments in anti-piracy next year.
