Piracy iQ service for measuring piracy consumption highlighted at SportsPro Live

Friend MTS, the content and revenue protection specialist, will highlight its new Piracy iQ service for measuring streaming piracy consumption, along with its latest multi-layer watermarking capabilities, at SportsPro Live (London, April 30 – May 1 2019).

“Friend MTS will be presenting at SportsPro Live to explain the threat from streaming piracy to the sports television industry, and how the latest video security services can transform the piracy landscape,” said Simon Hanna, Regional Vice President EMEA, at Friend MTS.

“Fighting streaming piracy effectively demands intelligence tools to understand and target the problem, as well as an array of proven content protection countermeasures.”

The company’s Piracy iQ service streamlines the measurement of streaming piracy consumption over internet service provider (ISP) networks by enhancing the reporting of third party network flow analysis systems.

With this new service, content owners, programmers and pay TV providers can accurately assess the impact of piracy on their businesses, and also track the on-going performance of their content protection activities.

Another piracy intelligence tool to be highlighted by Friend MTS is Distribution iD. This distributor-level watermarking enables programmers and channel owners to identify their distribution partners that are most impacted by piracy, with a view to improving the targeting of video security measures.

More effective content protection across the delivery chain can be achieved with multi-layer watermarking by combining Distribution iD with ASiD subscriber watermarking, which is deployed at a pay TV platform level.

Friend MTS’ ASiD service is the most widely deployed subscriber watermarking for premium sports and entertainment content. It enables operators to significantly reduce the impact of streaming piracy by cutting off the pirate services’ content sources within minutes. The watermarking has Hollywood studio approval following ‘golden eyes’ evaluation, and the robustness of the service has been independently tested by Cartesian.

Suitable for live channels and on-demand content, ASiD is highly effective against piracy from Android and Kodi-based illicit streaming services, as well as mobile apps, websites and social media.

Visitors to SportsPro Live will be able to see how Friend MTS can stop streaming piracy with traditional and OTT content delivery.
